Overview

 

Trekking in the Bale Mountains National Park is one of the best Ethiopia trekking experiences. In this trek, you will see the endemic wild animals like Ethiopian wolves, Mountain Nyala, Menelik’s bushbuck and many species of birds. The Bale Mountains of south central Ethiopia support the most extensive area of Afro alpine and sub alpine Ericaceous vegetation in Africa. They have the highest rate of animal endemicity of any terrestrial habitat in the world, which was the principal reason for the creation of the Bale Mountains National Park in 1970.This trek starts and ends at the head quarter of the park at Dinsho.

Day 1: Arrival Addis Ababa Bole International airport.  Overnight Hotel

Day 2: Today explore the sightseeing of Addis Ababa.  Overnight Hotel

Day 3: To Bale Mountains National Park headquarters. Overnight Hotel

Day 4: Trek around Dinsho and Gaysay walking trails. Overnight Hotel

Day 5: Trek to Webe valley; for forest, endemic birds. Overnight Lodge

Day 6: Walking through moorland plants to Mararo. Overnight Camping

Day 7: Discover Ethiopian Wolf and Giant Mole Rat. Overnight Camping

Day 8: Hike Sanettie Plateau and cross mount Batu. Overnight Camping

Day 9: Trek to little Batu and look back to Dinsho.  Overnight Camping

Day 10: Trek back to Dinsho; and end of the hiking. Overnight Camping

Day 11: Meet the cars in Dinsho; then drive to Hawassa. Overnight Hotel

Day 12: Explore Hawassa; then journey to Wendo Genet. Overnight Hotel

Day 13: Drive back to the capital passing the rift valley. Overnight Hotel

Day 14: Time for shopping; then in the evening departure back to home.
